The two were having an affair for approximately 5 months and appeared to getting serious.  According to reports, Steve promised to leave his wife and Sahel posted her furniture for sale on Craigslist in the hopes of moving in together.

Their relationship turned tragic when both Steve and Sahel were found shot dead on the couch of Steve’s condo.  All evidence points to Sahel having shot Steve while he slept and then shot herself, in the hopes of falling into his lap.

Investigators speculate that Steve was not only rethinking the decision to leave his wife but that he also had a second mistress in addition to Sahel.  More details are available here.

Question for debate: Did Steve deserve to be shot under these circumstances?

One of the tried and true bits of advice that floats around the dating scene is that if you want to know what your beloved will look like in 20-30 years, take a look at their parents.   You’ll get a good idea of how the people in that family age and vaguely what to expect when you marry them.

There are, of course, exceptions.  Like the milkman’s baby or someone who doesn’t know they’re adopted.  (It should be pretty obvious that you’re a panda and your dad is a bird, but some people are oblivious and noodle soup doesn’t help the matter.)  But on the whole, people will grow up to look like their folks, for better or worse.

Let me tell you about my friend Lindy.  We met in college and Lindy was absolutely beautiful.  She has short brown hair, stunning brown eyes, 5′5″, 120 lbs and has a nice pair of real boobs as a bonus.

She was also very thin, and we used to joke that our breasts were obviously swapped at birth since they’d look much better on my frame than hers.   My B’s would definitely suit her frame better, too.  She had some major back problems from her DD’s.

So Lindy had it all – she was smart, beautiful, and had an insanely nice pair of breasts.  Guys were drooling all over her and she could have had her pick of them.  She dated a bit, but was more of the studious type and never got into a serious relationship.  We hung out a lot and I spent New Year’s at her place, where I got to meet her parents.

Lindy’s mom was huge.  Not just fat.  That doesn’t even begin to describe Lindy’s mom.  You know all those “Yo Mama’s so fat…” jokes?  I never thought I’d see a person who actually made those jokes seem plausible until I met Lindy’s mom.  She wore muumuus.  No joke.  She could walk – barely –  but it was more like she rolled and waddled.   Mom was a big, big, BIG lady.  How is it that Lindy was so small?   She must have gotten the lucky genes!

After college, we lost touch for several years and I didn’t think anything of it until I got a request to be her friend on Facebook.  Staring back at me was a girl who looked like Lindy… but it was as though someone pumped her face full of marshmallows.  Lindy had probably put on at least 75 pounds.  At least.  And not only that… she looked just like her mom.  Not quite at muumuu yet, but close.

This is a cautionary tale, folks.  You may think your significant other will remain thin and beautiful, but genetics is a very strong beast that shouldn’t be toyed with.  Check out their parents and you’ll have a very good idea of the person you’ll be waking up to in your golden years.
